Teaching practice
Human Academy Japanese School Tokyo Campus accepts students who aspire to become Japanese teachers for teaching practice.
(For details? click here for the Teaching Practice Program)
We would like to report on the teaching practice held during the period from January 12 ~ January 20, 2023 (result report meeting on January 27).
All the trainees are very busy during the period.
Experience a beginner's class of Human Academy's original teaching material "Tsunagu Nihongo" as a student, receive lectures on subject-specific teaching methods such as "word vocabulary", "listening comprehension", "pronunciation and reading aloud", etc. ?Experience the basics of Japanese language education provided by Human, such as observing actual class scenes in advanced classes.
In parallel, they need to "prepare for class".
During the teaching practice period, the trainees will appear on the stage as a "teacher" twice in the beginner's class. They spend a lot of time preparing for a fun and fruitful lesson, from creating lesson plans to mock lessons.
Of course, the homeroom teacher of the elementary class will support the trainees as a tutor and support them firmly.
The tutor instructor will always be by your side to watch over the efforts and tensions of the trainees, as well as the ingenuity and difficulty in creating a good lesson, give feedback on the mock lesson, and give advice on creating lessons that match the atmosphere of the class. .
Before the day of your presentation, you will have the opportunity to observe the tutor's class as an assistant teacher, so from there you will gradually communicate with the students and prepare for your own class.
On the day of the presentation, the students and the “teacher” of the intern trainees are completely open to each other, creating an environment where it is easy to follow instructions in a cheerful atmosphere. I think this is because the sincere attitude of the trainees and the ingenuity of the classes were conveyed to the students.
The students wrote a message in Japanese using the Japanese that the trainee taught them.
When I was thinking about the message, the students had really lively expressions. They make full use of their knowledge of the Japanese language, and express their feelings for the trainees in their own words.
I felt that the desire to "communicate" my thoughts through words to the people in front of me and those who helped me was the driving force behind learning languages.
The trainee teacher told the students that he wanted to learn as many words as possible to connect his thoughts.
Among the students, there will be a strong memory of episodes called “memories,” including the Japanese that the trainees taught.
If you decide to pursue a career in Japanese language education in the future, we, the instructors, will be very happy to have been involved in this teaching practice.
A big thank you to all the trainees.
